We use question words like how? what? when? where? who? to request information.

Spanish question words are all written with an accent on the stressed syllable and are preceded by an upside-down question mark(¿).

- ¿Qué? (What? Which?)
¿Qué es esto?    What´s this?

- ¿Cuál´?/Cuáles?(Which?(identified more closely))
¿Cuál es la ciudad más grande de laregión?    Which is the biggest town in the region?
¿Cuales son los platos típicos?       Which are the typical dishes?

*¿Cuál? and ¿Cuáles? are not used next to a noun in correct Spanish. Use ¿Qué? instead.
