A. Y = and
 Julio y Julia hablan español         Julio and Julia speak spanish
 Julio come patatas y pescado       Julio eats potatoes and fish
 Julio come patatas y Julia come pescado       Julio eats potatoes and Julia eats fish

When ´y´ comes before a word beginning with ´i-´, ´hi-´, it´s changed to ´e´

ex) Julia e Isabel van a treatro       Julia and Isabel go to theater.
      Madre e hijas salen juntas        Mother and daughters go out together


B. O = or
 ¿Es usted inglés o coreano?       Are you English or Korean?
 Necesito un bolígrafo o un lápiz     I need a biro or a pencil

When ´o´ comes before a word beginning with ´0-´, ´ho-´, it´s changed to ´u´

ex) Hay diez u once personas en el restaurante.
      There are ten or eleven people in the restaurant.
     Busco un restaurante u hotel        I´m looking for a restaurant or hotel

Between figures, ´o´ is usually written  ´ó´ for clarity
ex) 100 ó 200 pesos        100 or 200 pesos
      en 4 ó 5 diaz            in 5 or 5 days


C. Ni = n(or)
 After a negative verb, spanish uses ´ni´
 No tengo dinero ni casa   I don´t have money or home.
 No bailo ni canto        I don´t dance or sing
 No tnego ni amigos ni colegas     I have neither friends nor colleagues.
 Ni canto ni bailo         I neither sing (n)or dance.
